Privacy Policy for GardenMe
Effective date: February 16, 2026
GardenMe ("we", "our", "us") helps users plan and manage home gardens. This Privacy Policy explains what data is used when you use the GardenMe Android app.
1. Data We Use
GardenMe may access the following on your device:
- Location (foreground only): used to center map setup, geocode addresses, and fetch local weather context.
- Camera: used when you take bed photos.
- Photos/Media library: used when you attach existing photos to beds.
- Notifications: used to send local gardening task reminders.
2. Data Collection and Sharing
- GardenMe does not require account sign-in.
- Core garden records are stored locally on your device.
- We do not sell personal data.
- Some features call third-party services over the internet: Open-Meteo (weather), Growstuff (plant data), and Trefle (plant data, when configured).
- When these services are called, they may receive technical request data (such as IP address and request metadata) and request parameters (for example latitude/longitude for weather lookups).
3. Photos and Garden Data
- Bed photos and garden/task data are stored locally in the app.
- You can remove data from within the app.
- Uninstalling the app removes local app data from the device, subject to Android behavior.
4. Permissions
GardenMe requests permissions only when needed for feature use:
- Location
- Camera
- Photos/Media
- Notifications
You can deny or revoke permissions in Android system settings. Some features may not work without the related permission.
5. Children's Privacy
GardenMe is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
6. Security
We use reasonable technical measures to protect app data, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Updated versions will be posted at this URL with a new effective date.
